Google confirms new device, not a Pixel, Nexus tablet – yet

By Peter Chubb - Sep 20, 2016

Well, there you have it, Google has pretty much confirmed the existence of a new phone, and that it will be unveiled on October 4th during an event. The smart money tells us that the new devices will be the Pixel and Pixel XL, although this is not fully certain. However, what we do not know at this time is whether Google will announce a new tablet or not.

2016 Nexus 7 refresh

There is hope that we will see a new tablet from Google during next month’s event, although it is not known if it will be a Nexus device, or whether it might be another Pixel tablet, seeing as though it’s now been a year since the Pixel C was released?

However you have to wonder if Google would prefer to go back to Nexus, seeing as though the Pixel C has not done too well. There have been rumours that Huawei was working on a Pixel branded 7-inch tablet, although other rumours seem to contradict this and actually believe it is a 2016 Nexus.

The Nexus 7 was always one of the more popular tablets from Google, and therefore they might wish to go back in time and try to recreate that same success – although would they really want to admit defeat and go backwards?
