Canon EOS M5 compatible with EF-M lenses

By Peter Chubb - Sep 15, 2016

The new EOS M5 is the next generation mirrorless camera from Canon, so much so that they have skipped the M4, which does indicate that this is a huge upgrade over its predecessor. You will notice that there is a huge difference in its design compared to that of the EOS M3, but do not let that put you off, as Canon has been able to stick with the same sort of lenses.

We know that one of the first things you will be wondering is the Canon EOS M5 compatible with the same lenses as its predecessor, and we can tell you that the new camera will play nice with Canon’s EF-M lenses, and so no need to start spending a huge sum of money on a new range of lenses.

This is a good thing seeing as though the EOS M5 price is $979.99 for the body, or $1,099 with the EF-M 15-45mm/F3.5-6.3 IS STM zoom kit lens. If you are looking for something more, then there is always the camera itself with the EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens, although this will cost you $1,479 in all. However, that starting price is just perfect if you already have a range of EF-M lenses.

There is an issue if you opt for the latter, as its release date will not be until December. However, those other options will be made available in November.

Full details on this latest mirrorless camera can be found on the Canon website.
