Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 pre-order beats GoPro Hero 5 to market

By Peter Chubb - Sep 1, 2016

Garmin has released their latest action camera, the VIRB Ultra 30. You are able to pre-order yours from today, although deliveries will not start until another week or so. With that being said, this is a very worthy action-cam and most importantly has beaten the GoPro Hero 5 to market – but is it any good?

While there are currently no full Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 hands-on reviews, we can get a good idea of what this new model has to offer by looking at its specs, and the promotional video, which we have embedded for you below. Actually, we have five videos for you to watch below, all of which offers even greater insight, and those are Fishing in 4K, Getting Started, Using Verb Edit, Connecting with Other Sensors, and Using the VIRB App.

You will notice that this latest model has been redesigned and comes packing a variety of awesome features, such as electronic 3-axis optical image stabilization, limited live-streaming capabilities, 4K UHD video support, and voice controls to name but a few.

It’s clear that this action-cam is a preemptive strike against the upcoming GoPro Hero5, and it’s clear to see that GoPro does have a fight on their hands – especially when you see the new VIRB Ultra 30 in action in those videos below. The big question is, has Garmin now set a new bar of what action cameras are meant to be?

The price of the new VIRB Ultra 30 is $499.99, and can now be preordered on Amazon.
