Nintendo NX release date confirmed for March 2017

By Alan Ng - Apr 27, 2016

Nintendo has just made a big announcement this morning, by confirming that the Nintendo NX console release date will not be until 2017.

We can also rule out the Nintendo NX at E3 2016 too, as Nintendo has just said that the focus is going to be on the new Legend of Zelda game instead – more on that later.

For now, here is the official statement from Nintendo regarding their next console which looks set to offer a brand new concept to gaming much like the Wii did:

“For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed “NX” with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally,”

The interesting thing there is Nintendo specifically mentioning a brand new concept in their statement. Does this imply that it is going to have an innovative new controller as we have heard about in previous rumors?

Either way, Nintendo has just firmly ended the speculation that the Nintendo NX could hit the shops in time for Christmas this year.

It’s not going to happen now and March 2017 is now the date to look forward to. Are you going to be buying into Nintendo’s new console without hesitation, or does the idea of the PS4 4K and Xbox One slim console delay the process?
