Tesla Model S 100kWh battery option increases range

By Peter Chubb - Apr 11, 2016

We already discussed how Tesla could be updating their Model S by refreshing some of its exterior and interior features, but we did leave a small, yet important details out. It would seem that there could also be a new battery option, and with it the Bioweapon Defense Mode air filtration taken from the Model X.

This means that there will soon be a Tesla Model S 100kWh battery option, although no details as to its range increase has been shared, but there have been suggestions of increases anywhere from 5 to 100 percent.

At this time it is all guesswork, although it will be interesting to know what Tesla will call this new option. We already have 70D, 90D and the P90D. It could either be the Model S 100D or the P100D, or Tesla could go with something different.

You will notice that the larger battery currently is the 90kWh option, which has a range of 270 or 253 for the non-performance or performance options respectively.

Some people will find it funny that such an expensive vehicle is only getting ventilated seats now seeing as though much cheaper vehicles already have this feature. Having said that, it’s very hard to compare the likes of a Kia Optima to a Tesla Model S.

No matter what way you look at this, the 100kWh pack being reported by The Verge will be a compelling upgrade, and so you know you will be able to use more of the features, such as Air Con without worrying too much about range.
