Updated Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet not for US release

By Peter Chubb - Dec 14, 2015

A newly updated Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet has been made available in Europe, although is still does not get a release in the US – which is a real shame. There is no denying how awesome this car is in terms of looks and fun-factor, and while the changes are not significant, they are just enough to improve on the model.

This is not a new generation Golf model, as it is still based on the aging platform. However, there are a few changes to get excited about, such as under the bonnet with its new 2.0-liter turbo four that brings increased performance.

The previous model offered the driver 210HP through the front wheels, where this new model increases it to 220 horsepower. An extra 10HP does not sound like much, but it helps make he engine more potent through the range.

Other upgrades to the new Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet are new 17-inch allow wheels, along with an option to upgrade to a set of 18-inch rims, adaptive dampers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain sensor, automatic running lights, new leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel and also an optional rear spoiler.

In terms of price, this updated VW Golf GTI Cabriolet will cost from £32,470 in the UK and €37,075 in Germany.
