Hyundai Genesis Coupe driveshaft problem leads to recall

By Peter Chubb - Dec 14, 2015

If you own a Hyundai Genesis Coupe, then you might be getting notified from the carmaker in due course because of a possible issue with its differential.

It’s been reported that 10,800 Genesis Coupe cars are to be recalled that were manufactured between December 28, 2011, and April 6, 2015, and only those with the 6-speed manual transmission and not the 8-speed automatic box.

Reason for the recall – There is a chance that the differential was not correctly aligned with the crossmember of the rear suspension. If this is the case, then there is a possibility that bolts that secure the differential could become loose and in doing so the vehicle would lose drive.

Hyundai are to contact affected owners, where they will need to bring their vehicle in so it can be inspected to see if the differential was correctly assembled.

January 11, 2016 is the date in which these recalls are said to begin.

We do start to lose faith in these carmakers because this should be a very simple job to do, especially with all the technology at these car assembly plants. Having said that, maybe they are now relying far too much on technology, as we know how that can be sometimes.
