New Konami backlash after Kojima Game Awards no show

By Alan Ng - Dec 4, 2015

Konami has threatened to steal the headlines from this year’s Game Awards event, but for all the wrong reasons. Host Geoff Keighley told millions of viewers around the world that Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain creator Hideo Kojima wasn’t allowed to attend.

Believe it or not, that is what we are led to believe. We’ve added the video below, with the moment Keighley told everyone live during the awards show that as Kojima was still under contract with Konami – a lawyer had instructed him that he wasn’t allowed to be in attendance.

It is hard to fathom this as you can expect, which is probably why Keighley decided to publicly throw Konami under the bus as the entire gaming community on social media continue to vent their anger over this right now.

Meanwhile Hideo Kojima has been taking in all of the support amid the aftermath of the show and has simply thanked fans for their continued support.

Are you finding it hard to believe as well that the creator of the game is not even allowed to be congratulated and collect an award on behalf of the hard work put into the game?
