PS4 Graded product console quality explained

By Alan Ng - Nov 27, 2015

We wanted to give you some information for those that have been considering buying a PS4 Graded console from Argos or GAME in the UK.

Many of you are probably wanting to know what is the difference between a PS4 500GB graded product console and a new one. A graded version comes in a unique box, which is actually very stylish and a nice idea from Sony.

The important thing to note though is that a graded PS4 console is a refurbished console from Sony that has already been used and may have minor cosmetic imperfections such as scratches or scuffs.

It is basically similar to pre-owned status, but with the assurance that it has gone back to Sony’s factory for refurbishment and repackaged as a almost new console.

Two important factors to take into account: Buying a PS4 graded console still comes with a 12 year warranty from Sony as with new consoles, but the bad news is that you will not get a blue mono headset inside the box.

This has been confirmed with a PS4 Graded product console unboxing review which we have added below. It is in French, but it gives you a good idea of the good condition that these used consoles come in – but obviously it is a blow with no headset to use.

You still get a new Dualshock 4 controller out of the box and a HDMI cable, in case you were worrying that it was literally the console only – Sony are not that harsh.

Let us know your thoughts on this version of the PS4 and if you are thinking of getting one – Argos are currently offering a PS4 500GB Graded Console for £199 here.

“Buying a PS4 graded console still comes with a 12 year warranty from Sony as with new consoles”

Looks like the author couldn’t decide between writing a 1-year warranty or a 12-month warranty, and got himself in a bit of a muddle.

12 year warranty sounds good to me! If only this was on an official Sony website! hehe.

Good move on Sony’s part. Makes me feel better about buying preowned.
