New Apple TV 4 to challenge game consoles

By Peter Chubb - Sep 1, 2015

We have been hoping for years that Apple gives people what they want and to offer gaming support for Apple TV. This has been promised before, yet nothing has ever come of it – although 2015 could be the year all that changes.

There seems to be more evidence suggesting that the Apple TV 4 will finally challenge game consoles. You might wonder how could a set-top box be able to compete with the likes of the Xbox and PlayStation, but you will be surprised how many people crave games that are fun, although not graphic intensive – you only have to look at the success of iOS gaming apps to see just what we mean.

Having said that, we have to wonder how popular these type of games would be when purchased via your Apple TV fourth generation, and played through your large screen TV?

Its suggested that the Apple TV 2015 update will come with all-new hardware, along with software and peripherals that will allow it to offer users another choice in playing games on the TV.

Not only that, but the report also suggests that the Apple TV 4G will also allow for Bluetooth game controller support, which will also come with pressure-sensitive buttons and joysticks – something that has proved very popular in the past with iPad, iPhone and iPod touch game.

Siri will also play a major role on the new Apple TV, although it’s pretty hard to imagine just how important such a feature will be – but we don’t have long to wait because we hope to learn everything about this device next week on September 9th.
