Amazon Prime video outage lasts 45 minutes

By Daniel Chubb - Jul 29, 2015

The popular Amazon Prime video streaming service went down today for around 45 minutes, according to reports from Twitter users and outage website Is Down Right Now. Amazon instant video service provides movies, music, TV shows, and much more to countries that include the UK, USA, India, Germany, and many more around the globe.

You can see a tweet below that pointed out that Amazon Prime video was down on July 29 in the UK, 28th for USA, but also didn’t like the lack of information on Amazon’s social media channels. In fact, you still won’t find much information on Twitter or Facebook from Amazon and customers are wondering why the outage took place?

When we run a few tests during the downtime, our prime review account offered up error messages pointing to system maintenance. This hasn’t been confirmed by Amazon support and we have reached out for comment, but haven’t received a statement at the time of writing.

Is the Amazon Prime server now working for you and if so, did the outage impact you today? You can leave a comment as well if you think Amazon should learn a lesson from the 45-minute outage today, especially in regard to giving timely feedback to customers when their services go down.

It was not just video. It was anything that required login authentication for me. I saw a lot of complaints on their message boards and some on Twitter. It lasted around an hour.
