Sky has finally decided to update its Now TV box to bring it in line with the Roku 3 player, as this is pretty much the model it is based on. The Now TV 2nd generation box brings with it some much-needed new hardware enhancements, which will be available to purchase from August.
The new generation Now TV box is Full HD, as it supports 1080p streaming, which we have to say is about time. It also comes with an Ethernet port, and a new processor that is said to make the set-top box fives times faster than the outgoing model.
Along with the improved streaming quality, connection and speed, there is also a new Sky Sports Streaming Plan. Customers can currently purchase a day pass for £6.99 or a week pass for £10.99. However, there is now a new Sky Sports Month Pass at a cost of £31.99 per month.
The cost for the new Now TV box is £14.99 and if those new features are not enough to persuade you, then maybe the updated interface will be? Sky says it will now be easier and quicker to navigate, although this will also mean the current model will get the update as well.
