Apple Pay UK bank and retailer support list, Barclays absent

By Peter Chubb - Jun 8, 2015

It’s been a long wait, but Apple Pay will finally become available to use from July, although there is only limited retailer support at this moment in time. The list of UK banks supporting this new form of payment service is decent enough, although we cannot help notice that Barclays are absent.

The Apple Pay UK bank and credit card support list includes M&S Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Ulster Bank, American Express, Santander, Royal Bank of Scotland, Nationwide, HSBC, First Direct, TSB, MBNA and LLOYDS Bank.

There are still plenty of banks missing from that list, like Barclays as we mentioned above, as well as Natwest. We can’t help notice that VISA is also missing from that list, although we know the company already has the infrastructure in place, it just has to set the date to go live.

While there is currently limited Apple Pay UK retailer support with just Costa, Marks and Spencer and Waitrose, we suspect more retailers will announce their support the closer we get to the payment service going live in the UK in July.

Britain will be the first country outside the US to gain access to the Apple Pay service, so let us hope it goes off with no issue, and proves as popular as it has in the United States.
