New Golf GTE Sport pays homage to DeLorean

The Volkswagen Golf has always been one of the most popular hot hatches over the years, but with tough competition from Japanese carmakers, VW needs to think outside the box. However, we are not sure if the new Golf GTE Sport concept is the way to go.

We say this because the design of this concept pays homage to an 80s classic, the DeLorean with its gullwing doors, although they seem a little more elegant – a little like the McLaren Mercedes SLR.

If you are one of those that thought the Golf was in need of a change in terms of its design, then this concept is sure to please you – let’s face it, you don’t get much different do you.

This is a rather drastic makeover Volkswagen has given the Golf, and so we would love to know if you think it is too radical? The curves are no longer soft that we see on the current Golf GTI model, as there are now very sharp lines and angles to make it far more aggressive.

However, there is no getting away from the fact that those doors are the biggest departure from the current design, although there are also some wonderful changes to the interior, all of which can bee seen in these images.
