The topic of PS4 and Xbox One receiving 4K resolution games support has been hotly debated for many weeks, although a recent Google Plus posting highlights once again the varied opinions.
As you can see on Google Plus here, just asking the gaming community if they can tell the difference between 1080p and 4K reveals a lot. Also, if gamers think the PS4 should receive 4K support in 2015? With over 170 comments, it’s insightful and reveals how simple 4K games could be possible.
While the current hardware is highly unlikely to get 4K support with any future firmware update, there’s is a possibility of 4K games coming to future upgraded PS4 hardware. There is a few problems with this possibility, which include official statements from Sony officials that the time isn’t right just yet.
While it’s clear you need a 4k display to see the finer details and true differences, gamers took part in an intense Google Plus debate and some outright said, “PS4 will NEVER be able to run ANYTHING at 4k let alone any game”. Others followed the same line of thought, suggesting 4K on PS4 would play at around 5fps.
There’s also some that feel 4K would be possible on PS4, but with a more simple approach. One gamer feels “you can do 4k on PS4 as far as power goes”, but it’s all about a game that “don’t need too much GPU power”. While this is also debated, most people agree it’s impossible to run something like The Order in 4K at 60fps with the current hardware. It’s also highly possible this won’t happen until Sony releases PS5.
Would you like to see an upgraded PS4 running games in 4K? In our opinion, you will be waiting until PS5 for 4K gaming with high frame-rates, so if you want that now it means buying a PC. Some still feel there’s the chance of 4K simpler games on PS4 that look pretty.
