GTA V PC updates with console parity

By Alan Ng - Apr 9, 2015

With GTA V PC approaching on April 14, we have some good news for PC users now with regards to ongoing PC updates for the game after launch.

Given the huge delay compared to console versions, many of you have been worried that Rockstar may choose to update the console versions of GTA V first, then work on PC updates last.

However, this will not be the case. GTA V gameplay designer John Macpherson has told GameSpot that GTA V PC updates will occur the same time as they do with next-gen and previous-gen console versions.

Obviously this may change slightly in certain situations, but ultimately Rockstar says that there won’t be any delays for PC updates on purpose.

Remember, the delay for the PC version has allowed Rockstar to put in the post-launch content for GTA V console versions at launch. Heists is a prime example of this, as where it was heavily delayed on console, it will be launching day-one with the PC version next week.

This means that in actual fact, the PC version should be mostly up to date with console versions – allowing Rockstar to deploy simultaneous patches across all platforms as mentioned above.

Either way, it is looking very good indeed for PC owners after such a long wait. Not only are you getting the best looking version, you’ll also be getting the version with the most post-launch content thanks to mods too.

This is paid for advertising and should be flagged as such. You have a misleading title that you may want to change – or did you get the article given to you by R* PR department? Your whole article talks about how much better the PC version is (and I agree that is why this PS4 gamer will not be buying any R* lies anymore). But your title is misleading. There is no parity and there will be no parity. These slimeballs held Heists back for 18 months just so they could give it to their PC “customers”.
All you PC crowd have only got 1 million pre-ordered units whereas the console versions sold 45 million. I just hope for the next alpha version of a game they release on consoles, that people don’t get fooled again and just do not buy it. I will NEVER be buying a game from these clowns again.
What this means for console people going forward is that your updates will be held back just so precious PC gamers get their updates at the same time. It is obviously more complex and time consuming issuing updtaes for the version that is 50% bigger and better. Hence the game taking an extra 18 months to create. The other thing is that updates take far longer for PC as they need to test them on the infinite number of hardware configurations on the market.
Console players need to stop subsidising PC gamers. The irony is, the PC version costs devs more, takes longer make and then PC gamers pay LESS even where they legitimately buy the game. Anyone who buys any Rockstar consoles games is a moron (me included as I bought GTAV for PS3). Rockstar are now a PC only developer. I wish them luck with their preference for PC Gaming. I would advise their TT shareholders to reconsider their investment moving forward as I am not the only console gamer who is annoyed that they held back Heists for 18 months after promising it “in the next few weeks” back in September 2013.
This article is entirely misleading and should be titled – “Rockstar to hold back consoles updates until PC updates are ready”. So, for any console players still playing this average old game, expect far slower updates and more glitches etc as all their time will be spent managing their monster precious PC version. PC gamers have always had a disdain for console players and these devs are no different. Vote with your wallets people. Do NOT buy the sub-par Red Dead Redemption 2. They will spend 2 or 3 times the money developing the PC version, yet charge us console gamers MORE for the versions that are cheaper and faster to make. They have already said it will be coming to PC – so if you are curious torrent it on PC, just do not BUY it on console.
Sorry about the rant, but I thought I had to counteract this Rockstar PR article with an alternative viewpoint on Rockstar holding back console updates.
