BST daylight saving change with 2016 iOS reminder

By Daniel Chubb - Mar 25, 2016

The British Summer time change is once again taking place tonight with a daylight saving change for 2016 happening automatically on mobile devices. While this fact is true for most smartphones and tablets, it’s also possible that thousands of people will notice their clocks won’t change and we experienced this with an iPad in our office during the last UK time change.

As we explained to Product Reviews readers in 2014, problems were unlikely in iOS 8.1 due to improvements to issues seen with older iOS versions, but some people turn off the automatic clock. This means that their device wouldn’t change time when BST daylight saving starts.

If you are wondering what time do the clocks go forward, then in a nutshell it’s Sunday March 27 at 1am. The easiest thing to do is just change all clocks in your home before heading to bed, or make sure devices with automatic settings are correctly set.

Apple iOS reminder for 2016 – while the clocks have already changed in the United States earlier this month, it’s time for the same thing to happen in the UK on March 27.

Make sure you click on the “Settings” menu before you head to bed, followed by “General” and then “Date & Time”. It’s here you will see an on and off switch for setting your time automatically, so make sure this is switched on if you want everything to change itself with clocks moving forward an hour.

Do you always leave your time to change automatically for the daylight saving change? If so, did you have no problems and did alarm clocks work correctly with your device?

Thanks, I just checked this setting and it was set to manual for some reason I don’t remember changing it. This saved me hassle as we are going out really early on Sunday. Hopefully iOS 9 won’t give me any other issues when the clocks go forward.
