It was a huge day for Apple yesterday because the company finally got to reveal every aspect of its Apple Watch, along with an all-new MacBook and updates to its MacBook Air and Pro line. However, in-between those announcements Tim Cook took the time to share details of increasing its CarPlay model support for 2015.
We are uncertain as to how many car models are currently supported by Apple’s automotive infotainment operating system, but we do know that the number is set to increase by another 40 new models by the end of this year.
Most of the top automakers have already said they will offer the tech in their models, we just do not know the precise vehicles, although we hope for Apple to release details of this throughout the year.
No doubt there will be the haters out there that say Apple is trying to monopolize the car industry like it has done within the mobile industry, but you have to remember that CarPlay is just an option and you still have the cars regular interface if you so desire.
When looking for a new car is the option of CarPlay one of the features you will be looking for?
