It was back in August when ASUS released its Fonepad 7 2014 Edition (FE7530CXG), and there is now a new model for 2015, the FE170CG. There are a few changes to this new model, but it does add some confusion, as the company is still calling it the Fonepad 7.

Some people could get mixed up with the current model and the new one, and so you will need to be careful when buying one, especially from big retailers looking to shift old stock.

Be aware of the differences – In order not to make a mistake and to make certain that your purchase the 2015 ASUS Fonepad 7, you will need to make a note of a few of the changes for this updated model.

Ok, so we know ASUS has not made things easier seeing as though the design stays pretty much the same, but there are several differences to its hardware. We already told you of that new model number, which is the easiest way to tell the difference, but so will be the new Intel Atom Z3530 instead of the older Z2560. However, this new model is only clocked at 1.3GHz instead of 1.6GHz.

Other new features to look out for are 2GB of RAM, a choice of 8GB and 16GB of storage, a 7-inch 1200×800 display, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel up front. That’s not all, there is also 5GB of cloud storage, LTE and 3G connectivity.

The 2015 ASUS Fonepad 7 price works out at around $250, although this is based on its Taiwanese price, as there are no details on its U.S. release date just yet.
