No Titanfall 2 Xbox One exclusive with PS4 probability

By Alan Ng - Feb 9, 2015

Are you ready to play the next game in the Titanfall series? A lot was made about the fact that Respawn’s first game was an Xbox One exclusive. Now, it looks like Titanfall 2 will not be as there’s more evidence to suggest that the next game will be available on PS4.

We have the most telling piece of evidence on this to bring you so far, direct from EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen who has been speaking at 2015 Technology, Internet & Media Conference.

On the subject of Titanfall 2 he has been quoted as saying the team will “probably have another Titanfall game” and more importantly that “it will probably be a bigger footprint than just a single platform.”

He added that by going multiplatform, it will be seen as a ‘huge positive’ for them so it does look like a strong indication that Titanfall 2 will be PS4 and Xbox One this time around.

Is this the most logical decision from EA and Respawn? The first game sold well as an exclusive, but EA seems to have decided that opening up the series to PS4 players is the best way forward.

What does that mean though in terms of PlayStation owners having not played the first game? Will Respawn attach some sort of backstory into PS4 copies of Titanfall 2 to bring gamers up to speed with the story?

Or does the fact that Titanfall was multiplayer only provide the perfect excuse not to worry about PS4 gamers feeling left out of the first game?

Give us your thoughts on this and whether you would be happy to buy Titanfall 2 on PS4 without any problems.

Or maybe it’s PC, you know Microsoft does have Windows/Xbox One cross-platform ability(finally!). Going PC as well could be considered multiplatform. I doubt it’ll be PS4 especially when EA & MS have a quasilove relationship .

EA loves money more than Xbox. If they dish out enough cash maybe, but they have to dish out more than they will get by letting Sony in on the deal.

      • walk

Microsoft has more money than Sony and if MS feels TF2 can spur more console sales, yes, they will $pend $pend $pend. Plus with Windows 10 integration?!! MS has a lot more potential than Sony and MS/EA knows that.

        • Jizm

What you don’t understand about these business is that each company gives a certain budget to their divisions. The Xbox division does not automatically have all of MS’s wealth. They get what they are allotted. Considering they are a fairly unimportant branch (in comparison to the other divisions in MS), they most likely do not have the fund you think they do.

Secondly, you need to think of the money the company would get given they sold their product with the ability to play on Sony’s system. So far it is around 19 million consoles sold give or take a million. With that said, that is a lot of dough they can make by just making it a PS accessible. They will also be accounting for the number of consoles sold by the time TF2 is finally released as well.

Now crunch those numbers without any fan boy bullcrap on the side. You will then see the realistic business standpoint that EA will most likely choose.

This conversation is over. MS dedicated 1 billion dollars in games alone. Not to the division for hardware or r&d. Just software making AAA games. MS has a more solid, unified eco-system that’s worth billions more long term than anything Sony wants to do. This conversation is over

        • Jizm

The only reason why this conversation can end is because of your typically blind fan boy crap. MS did the numbers and saw how profitable it was to buy a company that was making money like crazy. THAT is why. MS bought that company. It was viewed at a business standpoint. If you look at the sales of TF it was good. Not stellar. Therefore there will be a bigger debate whether or not to make it exclusive.

Take a class or two. You might learn something.

No no….he made a rebuttal against your division and budget statement and you sidestepped it and as Yoda taught us…your fear lead to anger! All fanboy thoughts aside….if you think of market share, windows and xbox is more than enough…ps doesn’t equate to much at all. Plus with cross play…it’s an even bigger incentive for both! (which is what the solid, unified ecosystem statement eludes to). 😊

        • Jizm

That, was a ramble that does not make any sense. None of it connects. You are both clearly little fan boys. I’ll pray for you both.

        • marhorn

It’s not Astro physics….there’s no dots to connect….just you getting angry at facts….you can pray….but isn’t psn down for maintenance again?

        • Josh101

You want to know the facts? The Playstation network has more daily active users than Steam. Steam has more DAU’S than XboxLive. It’s much more of an incentive for Respawn to go multi-platform. Considering the sales of Titanfall were “good”, not stellar. The only reason they were “good” because there were Titanfall bundles. The bulk of their Titanfall sales were made with bundles that offered the game for free. That’s the truth. Respawn didn’t even want to go exclusive, the developers were surprised when Activision made it exclusive. You can check their Twitter posts. They didn’t even know.

        • marhorn

Psn daily active users use psp, vita….and few other things too. If xbox lied (sorry, presented the figures) this way then it would crazy how much more there are ie; xbox 360 and one versus ps3 and 4 instead of factoring in handhelds and other devices. I own all Sony products by the way….just uncharted didn’t impress me as much as I had hoped, gran Turismo is dead (forza is king now) all I want is god of war to be amazing!

        • Jizm

PSN was not down at the time. Try harder, troll.

        • marhorn

It was a joke… No need malice intended. However…. Check again, pr just ran an article saying its down….so er….lol….troll!

        • Jizm

It was already announced they are having downtime right now for maintenance. I received an email upon your reply, of which I was playing a game online on PSN. So, er, uh, terrible troll.

        • Josh101

Yeah, MS dedicated 1 billion in games alone. How much again did they spend on Minecraft alone? I thought so. Not to mention, Sony’s ecosystem is by far, much better than Microsofts. Especially with cross-play and cross-buy across 3 separate Playstation systems and all Bravia TV’s. In the very near future, phones and tablets as well. PS+ completely destroys Microsoft in every respect. Including over $1300 in the last year in PS+ games alone. :)

Will prob be PC. Why bother with 30FPS twitch shooters. Was looking at getting Evolve for my PS4 until I saw 30FPS – what, wait? Yes, CoD on the PS3 was 60FPS. But today’s console shooters are now 30FPS depsite better hardware. Go figure. If you’ve ever played a 30FPS shooter you know what I mean. Screenshots look good on the back of the box – but that’s it. The game sucks. Do NOT buy and don’t expect anything but crap shooters for your console moving forward. Battlefield is confirmed 30FPS and therefore I will not play it – which really sucks coz I like the cops n robbers thing. I guess I will only play CoD now as they are the only guys that give us 60FPS – which is VITAL for any twitch shooter.
