PS Vita YouTube app removed, support dying say users

By Alan Ng - Jan 29, 2015

We have some very disappointing news to bring to PS Vita owners now. In a sudden announcement, Sony has just said that they are about to drop support for the PS Vita YouTube app.

In other words, PS Vita YouTube app will stop working this April and starting from this week – you won’t even be able to find it in the PlayStation Store.

We already see the complaints about the PS Vita YouTube app being removed, but so far Sony hasn’t given a full explanation on why they are doing it.

We can also see that Maps on PS Vita is getting the same treatment, which suggests to us that Sony may have had a breakdown in communications with Google regarding renewing the license for both apps.

You can see the confirmation from Sony on their support page, which reveals that the PS Vita YouTube app end date is April 20 2015.

Meanwhile, as expected the reaction on social media has not been good. The 5-inch system is already struggling to bring out AAA titles and this news is unlikely to help the situation.

We’ve seen feedback from many unhappy PS Vita owners who are now admitting that the PS Vita is ‘dying’. If you bought the system at launch, would you agree with this outcome or not?

Don’t forget that many users are still feeling sour over the fact that Final Fantasy Type 0 HD is not getting a Vita port, even though FFX HD did.

Let us know how you feel about YouTube support ending. Is this a huge blow to you or not – is the PS Vita really dying already in 2015?
