Dragon Age Inquisition Easy dragon fights in minutes

By Alan Ng - Jan 8, 2015

How are you getting on with your Dragon Age Inquisition adventure at the moment, in your quest to rid the world of the rift mages whilst collecting shards like your life depended on it?

We have been playing through the game and loving every minute of it so far. Bioware and EA have really outdone themselves this time and it’s great to see Dragon Age back where it belongs on the pedestal of top tier RPG games.

The most challenging aspect of the game which we can see at the moment is taking down the High Dragons. There are a total of 10 Dragons in Inquisition and range in difficulty depending on which area you are in.

Emprise Du Lion alone, has three dragons in a single area – one of which is the Highland Ravager which was possibly our hardest dragon fight in the game so far.

Fortunately, there is a way to make Dragon Age Inquisition Dragon battles a lot more bearable, not to mention quicker as well since normally you can easily spend an hour in a single fight with standard gear.

Presuming you have selected Mage as your class of choice, you’ll need to make Knight Enchanter as your specialization of choice once you have the option of learning a new skill tree at Skyhold.

We’ve seen a lot of fuss about how Vivienne is amazing as a Knight Enchanter, but what some people forget is that your main character can become one too as a mage.

Once you have this ability, you basically want to refund your skill points with a Tactician’s Renewal and max out all abilities in the new Knight Enchanter class and also the entire Spirit class.

The key areas of focus here are Spirit Blade and Fade Shield. With these two combined with max Barrier abilities from the Spirit class, you will be able to take down High Dragons in minutes with a barrier that is almost always available and it is much more manageable using this tactic, compared to all out elemental damage.

The Spirit Blade can deal out massive damage compared to your staff, not to mention dealing extreme damage once dragons such as the Highland Ravager and Vinsomer put up a never-ending Guard bar.

Honestly, without Spirit Blade you are going to have a tough time dealing with these dragon, especially when a dragon’s guard is active, your team mates are dead, you have run out of potions and to top it off – hordes of dragonlings are hurling towards you.

As long as you are well levelled with Masterwork equipment and maxed out Spirit and Knight Enchanter trees, you should be able to cope with any dragon in the game – especially once you learn dragon attack patterns and keep in melee range to avoid whirlwind attacks.

We also recommend taking along Blackwall with maxed out a Champion skill set, as he’s a beast and will stay alive longer than any other ally during the tough dragon fights.

We can only offer our tips on what we have experienced ourselves so far, but we’re sure most of you are using other tactics with success. Let us know your adventure so far with the 10 dragons and how you dealt with them in the quickest time possible.
