Galaxy S6 vs. Xperia Z4 expectations at CES 2015

By Peter Chubb - Dec 22, 2014

With Christmas coming up there is a lot to look forward to; although if you are into your tech, then you will be counting down the days until the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. This event always throws some unexpected surprises, and depending on what you read, we could see the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Sony Xperia Z4 make an appearance.

Expectations at CES 2015 – We recently reported that the Galaxy S6 unveil looks set to take place on March 2nd at MWC 2015, although there have been suggestions that it could see its debut earlier because Samsung has had such a tough year.

Sales of the S5 and Note 4 were not as good as we expected and with falling profits Samsung needs to offer something big this year. The company really needs to deliver on an all-new design philosophy, and back it up with impressive specs. Many people expect to see the Galaxy S6 specs to sport a 5.5-inch QHD display, an Exynos oct-core processor, 3GB of RAM and a 20-megapixel camera.

The Galaxy S5 was meant to come with a metal frame, and if the S6 does not come with a metal frame, then can expect to see worse sales for 2015.

On the other hand, Sony has had a very good year and we expect the trend to continue. The Xperia Z3 has not been out that long and there is already talk that the Z4 could make an appearance during CES next month. Compared to the S6, the rumored Sony Xperia Z4 specs look to be even better with its same display type, but 4GB of Ram and a higher-rated 21-megapixel camera.

What expectations do you have for Samsung’s and Sony’s next flagship phones, and what are the chances of seeing them at the Consumer Electronics Show in January?

Signed up for a Note 4 and have been very happy with the build quality. Can’t see Samsung letting the side down with the new S6.
