Nexus 9 Android 5.1 update download possibly February

Android 5.0 Lollipop was a bit like iOS 8 in one respect, as it never had a very good reception from its users due to bugs and issues. Both mobile operating systems have had updates, although rather minor. However, we do know that Apple will bring iOS 8.2 early next year. Google are not resting either, as we should see the Android 5.1 update download go live around February time.

First device to get the Android 5.1 update – We cannot be certain if it will be a phone or tablet to get the update first, but we suspect it will be the Nexus 9, seeing as though this did get 5.0 first, with the Nexus 7 following shortly after.

If we were to put money on it we would say Google could release Android 5.1 on the Nexus 6 and 9 first, with other Nexus devices to follow a few weeks after.

Improvements – Given that this is considered more of a major update, Forbes reports that this new version will make improvements to how it manages RAM, and doing away with apps closing for no reason. Silent Mode is also said to be making a return, along with Wi-Fi enhancements.

Non-Nexus devices may have a longer wait on their hands, as they may have to wait until June or July to make full use of Android 5.1, so not good news for Galaxy S5 users, although the S6 should be out by then.
