Mortal Kombat X on PS4, Xbox One without exclusive character

By Alan Ng - Dec 15, 2014

We have been waiting to hear some Mortal Kombat X roster news on PS4 and Xbox One for weeks. Now though, it looks we may have some interesting details to confirm about the game, direct from NetherRealm Studios.

As most of you know, Mortal Kombat X was highlighted at the recent PlayStation Experience and one of the big questions on everyones minds is ‘Are there going to be any Mortal Kombat X exclusive characters on PS4 and Xbox One’?.

This is due to the fact that one of the big talking points prior to the release of Mortal Kombat 9, was that NetherRealm Studios offered Kratos as a platform exclusive to PS3 buyers.

There had been some rumors suggesting that NetherRealm would again go down this route but this time offer two characters – one for PS4 and one for Xbox One gamers.

However, this doesn’t look like it is going to be the case. NetherRealm’s executive producer Shaun Himmerick categorically revealed that the game will not have platform exclusive characters this time.

You can see a confirmation of this by checking out the full interview courtesy of HardcoreGamer, which is a great read in itself. While PS4 owners may be unhappy upon hearing this news, it is probably the right move thinking about the overall picture.

After all, PS4 owners are getting Street Fighter 5 now as an exclusive so they can’t complain at the moment. We just hope that NetherRealm will hurry up with the next Mortal Kombat X character reveal as we’re starting to get bored.

This is a good thing, means more room for /actual/ MK characters.

You forgot to mention PS3 and XBox360. And YES MKX is still coming to those systems, so quit trying to give them “the bum’s rush.”
