Cartoon HD app working with surprise format

By Alan Ng - Dec 15, 2014

After all of the drama this year regarding one controversial mobile app that claimed to offer a way to watch ‘free movies’, we can see that this app has returned with a new viewing method. The Cartoon HD app is working again, with the developers offering a Cartoon HD app surprise format by running their service entirely through an optimized browser page.

We told you back in June, that Cartoon HD was closed and was never coming back. However, it looks like temptation may have gotten the better of the developers, as GappCenter is once again advertising this app with the CartoonHD.is website hosting ‘free’ movies to download again.

The big difference this time is that there doesn’t appear to be a Cartoon HD app download on Android and iOS via the traditional App Store and Google Play marketplaces.

Instead, the developers are advising users to head to an optimised browser page instead and saving the app to their devices this way – basically cutting out the need for an app entirely.

The makers are promising that Cartoon HD is working 100% and will ‘never go away’. However, given the risk involved with free media content, there’s always the danger of problems occurring – spyware and malware for one.

For example, we’ve already seen some feedback on Twitter from those who say that the new Cartoon HD website isn’t free anymore and actually redirects to a ‘paywall’ after certain days.

As a result, it goes without saying that you use Cartoon HD at your own risk and it may sound too good to be true given that the developers originally said earlier this year that the app was closed forever.

For now though, Cartoon HD is working with a new format. Give us your reaction to this and whether you have also been asked to pay for their content.

Can you admit to using this app in the past based on the ease of it, or will you always choose to pay for your content given the choice?

The original Twitter account was GappCenter, the new one is Gappcenter, judging by the sudden change of tack I’d say the two aren’t from the same developer.
