Street Fighter 5 loss will lead to ‘franchise bartering’ says Xbox exec

By Alan Ng - Dec 8, 2014

We have more Street Fighter 5 news to bring you now, this time some reaction from Xbox boss Phil Spencer with regards to the fact that Street Fighter 5 is a console exclusive on PS4.

It is undoubtedly the biggest piece of news all week, given that Street Fighter V is likely to be one of the most popular fighting games of 2015 alongside Mortal Kombat X.

Either way you look at it though, it’s a blow for Xbox One owners and Phil Spencer has been quick to make a statement on the matter. When bombarded on Twitter from fans asking for his opinion on SF5, he put it down to a ‘business decision’ and that Microsoft wouldn’t ‘do all of them’.

When pressed further on the matter though, Spencer hinted that their priority is Killer Instinct rather than Street Fighter, although later saying that he planned to ‘make amends’ for the loss, by making some deals regarding other games with what Spencer calls ‘Franchise Bartering’.

Are you happy with this statement from Phil Spencer, or are your wounds still sore from Sony’s announcement? We fully expect Microsoft to strike back with some exclusive deals of their own, as this is the way in which the industry has turned out right now.

Do you agree with Phil Spencer that Killer Instinct is the better game, or is Street Fighter still the number one fighting game around?
