Final Fantasy 7 on PS4 troll reaction from fans

By Alan Ng - Dec 6, 2014

This could have been the greatest weekend in Sony’s history, coming off the back of a Street Fighter V PS4 exclusive announcement. Instead, there appears to be a discussion on whether Square-Enix’s announcement of Final Fantasy 7 on PS4 has in fact turned out to be the greatest troll in history.

When we saw that Final Fantasy 7 banner appear on stage during the PlayStation Experience, we like millions had thought that this is the moment when we would finally be getting the Final Fantasy 7 HD remake of the game.

However, much to everyone’s despair this is actually not going to be the case. Instead, Square-Enix will be porting the PC version of the game to PS4, which in actual fact is essentially a port of the original PlayStation One version with updated graphics in 1080p.

After that PS4 tech demo all those years ago, this is obviously not what fans were expecting to see. The build-up during the actual reveal on stage almost teased that this was going to be the remake as well.

It’s not going to happen though and we can see that there’s a lot of upset Final Fantasy fans out there who are calling this the biggest troll of their life, giving Rick Astley a lifetime pass in the process.

You can read through some of the ‘troll’ reactions here on Twitter to get an idea of how people feel. While we’ve also added one video in particular below which kind of sums up the mood right now.
