Lenovo S8-50 Tablet review with surprising specs

By Alan Ng - Nov 29, 2014

We have some information to bring you now on one tablet that is likely to be very popular as we approach the end of the busy Holiday shopping period. The Lenovo S850 tablet is a device that combines great hardware performance at a price that is still acceptable for your wallet.

We say that as unlike other so called ‘budget’ tablets on the market, the Lenovo S850 specs include a very fast Intel Atom 1.33Ghz Z3745 quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM.

Other highlights include an 8-inch display which offers a HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and a very impressive 8MP rear camera as well, with accompanying 1.6MP front camera.

This is clearly above and beyond the capabilities of most other budget tablets, so really it should perhaps be compared to some of the other heavyweights such as the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0.

This tablet runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat out of the box too, meaning that it is definitely up for an Android 5.0 Lollipop update given the excellent hardware potential.

16GB of internal memory is included by default, but as usual you will be able to expand upon this with MicroSD card. Sound quality is also superior too, with two speakers on the front of the tablet being powered by Dolby audio.

Most will agree that these hardware specs are very impressive indeed. Over in the US, Best Buy are now giving consumers the opportunity to buy the tablet for just $159.99 due to their Monday sales that are coming up.

Agreed that is has surprising specs (above full HD, 8″ screen & 2GB RAM) for a $160 (on sale) name brand tablet. There appears to be an error in the above specs for RAM. According to the “about” screen, this thing actually has 2GB of RAM rather than the 1GB specified above.

The Best Buy display also says it’s “Best Buy Only” so (at least in the States), it likely can’t be had from any other source.
