John Lewis 2014 Christmas TV ad viral replication

By Peter Chubb - Nov 7, 2014

The John Lewis Christmas advert from last year was huge success not only on the TV, but with social media because it went viral. Looking at the early signs form the John Lewis 2014 Christmas TV, which was released a few days ago looks as though it will repeat the viral success from last years commercial.

Last years John Lewis Christmas ad cost the company £7 million to create, but as yet there has been no details as to how much the Monty the Penguin ad has cost, although we have to say it doesn’t give me the same warm feeling as last year’s. Having said that, we are sure this ad will appeal to young kids and will no doubt ask their parents they want to visit John Lewis in the build-up to Christmas, or even ask if they can have a Monty the Penguin teddy.

We can only remember ads from this giant UK retail store for the past three years, although we know they have been doing them for a lot longer. However, the reason why there has been a greater interest in their Christmas ads is because of the number of views they get on social media outlets like Twitter and YouTube, with last year’s a fine example, as it had more than 13 million views on YouTube.

The ad has only been out for just over a day and it has already seen 4,095,469 views, and so looks set to be another good year for John Lewis. The ad will warm so of you a little, especially if you have kids, but it is at the end that could see a few people shed a tear.

However, it hasn’t taken long for other people to offer their John Lewis 2014 Christmas TV ad parody, as they do like to offer their replication of what they think the other message is within the ad.

We have come across three in all, all of which you can see below, although the main ad takes up the first position below.
