COD: Advanced Warfare Light Exo Vs Heavy for Zombies Riot

By Daniel Chubb - Nov 7, 2014

First up, let’s explain how you unlock the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and then talk tips for lasting many rounds. If you manage to unlock all tier maps and reach Riot, then you just need to complete 10 rounds on the Riot map to unlock a Zombies round within the new COD Advanced Warfare game.

There’s two main ways to take on zombies in all Call of Duty games. This is to hold up somewhere and fight, or to run around the map as a team in some sort of train. If you played Black Ops 2 zombies, then you might remember getting on the zombies train and leading the zombies around the map to survive as many levels as possible.

In COD Advanced Warfare the Zombies round seen on the Riot map is very different. Not only is this not a full zombies mode like in previous games, but to gain access to the full mode you will need to download a future paid DLC. This of course is a business plan, rather than thinking what’s best for the gamer.

Tips for COD: Advanced Warfare Zombies by Exo class – as you can see in the screenshot above and if you’ve played the survival mode, you’ll know there’s three main Exo classes to choose from. These include Light Exo, Heavy Exo, and Specialist Exo. Personally, our favorite has to be Heavy Exo thanks to it taking and delivering the most damage.

While the zombies round on Riot and in Advanced Warfare works very different to previous titles, our personal choice of Exo classes for zombies would be Light or Heavy.

It’s true you need to get through other rounds before you reach zombies and we don’t know exactly what the setup will be for the full zombies mode when it arrives, but once you meet these Advanced Warfare zombies you’ll want to be quick or hold-up somewhere.

Heavy Exo is slow but tough – If you choose to stay still, then it’s best to hold-up as a team in a room with good viewpoints, or high up to take advantage of killing zombies from high that slows them down slightly when jumping. You wouldn’t want a class that’s really fast in this situation, so we wouldn’t personally choose the Light Exo even with it’s full range of boost abilities thanks to lowest armor. Heavy might be slow, but it’s perfect for holding up somewhere and can take a punch.

Light Exo is very fast and has a full range of boost abilities – If you want to be moving around a lot rather than staying still to take on the Advanced Warfare Zombies, then Light Exo has to be the best choice. You will gain Assault Riles and SMGS for tighter spots, also the UAV class helps spot zombies and other enemies early.

You might not have the best armor, but you make up for this with speed and boost abilities to keep out of a zombies reach. If you want something in-between these two options, then go for the Specialist Exo class.

Do you have tips when reaching the Advanced Warfare Zombies round on Riot and if so, leave your comment below to offer others your strategy? We’ve been through many rounds in our review, unlocked all maps, and maxed out Exo abilities that made the game a lot easier to play. The rounds were easy to complete once everything was overpowered and you have a good team, but in the end things will finish quick after just a small mistake.

If you’ve reached the zombies round and played this survival mode for any length of time, then leave a comment with your impressions of the game so far. Personally, we have become addicted already and look forward to new maps along with a full zombies mode. You can read more on the zombies in Advanced Warfare thanks to a glimpse within a trailer, and of course the expected release date.

The boost abilities are so much fun and playing as light exo delivers these in the best way.

I only play as Heavy Exo, the increased damage and armor fall outweighs the boost abilities for me.
