Galaxy Core 2 vs Moto G 2nd gen India specs decider

By Peter Chubb - Oct 27, 2014

We already looked at how the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime compares to the Grand 2, so now we thought consumers in India might wish to see how the Galaxy Core 2 compares to the Moto G 2nd gen. We will take a look at the specs for each in the hope it will allow you to come up with a decision as to which handset is more for you.

Just like those other two handsets above, these are also dual-sim Android models, which allows you to shift from one carrier to another, depending on where you are. Samsung’s Galaxy Core 2 was released back in the summer and has proved a firm favorite, although the release of the new Moto G for 2014 has given people something to think about, so below we will offer you a specs decider.

Whenever we compare specs, the first piece of hardware we look at is the processor, and the Galaxy Core 2 has a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, although we do not know the chip type or GPU. As for the Moto G 2nd generation, this model comes with a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor and Adreno 305 graphics.

The RAM and storage for each device are as follows, 1GB of RAM for the new Moto G and 768MB of RAM for the Galaxy Core 2. Storage for each are 8GB and 4GB respectively.

The difference between the display is very clear to see in the video below, as the Moto G II has a 5-inch IPS LCD deploy, whereas the Core 2 has a 4.5-inch TFT display. The resolutions for each are 1280 x 720, 294 ppi and 800 x 480 with 207 ppi.

As for camera and battery, we have a 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras for Motorola’s phone and 5-megapixel rear and VGA up front for Samsung’s. Battery wise we have 2070 mAh for the Moto G 2 and 2000 mAh for the Core 2, although the latter is removable, unlike the former.

It is very clear by now that the Moto G 2 is the better handset, and Android 4.4.4 KitKat compared to 4.4.2 for the Core 2 is also proof of that. However, it is not all about the specs because there has to be a fine balance with its price as well. The Galaxy Core 2 price in India is around Rs. 8,000, whereas the Moto G 2nd Gen will set you back about Rs. 12,999, which is a huge difference.

If money is not an issue, then the Moto G 2014 model would be the ideal choice. However, if money is a bit of an issue, then the Galaxy Core 2 still has more than enough to offer, if you don’t mind sacrificing a bit of speed and camera quality.
