There is a huge choice of sports cars that are able to achieve a top speed of around 170 mph and a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds, but not many of them will make use of Formula One technology and come in at a price way below the £100,000 mark. Well, this is just what the Sin R1 road car does, which was teased to us earlier this year. The reason to bring this vehicle up once again is the fact the Sin R1 is for sale, with delivery expected to happen towards the end of the year – so not too long to wait.
Before we have a recap of what makes this road-legal racetrack car tick, there is the small matter of the Sin R1 price, and we can tell you it is to cost £72,000, with 120 models expected to be sold per year. The images you see are still preproduction models, but they are pretty close to the final release models.
Sin R1 sports car specs – The road car version makes use of a Chevrolet 6.2-litre V8 engine pumping out 444 horsepower. We know that some of you will say that is not a lot of power from such a large engine, but it is not fragile like some other power units. There is also an option for a supercharger kit, so maybe you will be able to bump that to well over 600bhp.
Going back to the Sin R1 features, it will have a six-speed manual, which gives you a better feel, although there will be an option for a Paddle-shifted sequential gearbox. This will be rear-wheel drive, and the addition of an active spoiler will help keep those wheels firmly stuck to the road to offer more traction.
The car weighs around 1100kg thanks to its FIA-homologated tubular space frame chassis, and the Carbon composites aerodynamic bodywork. The sports car also comes with performance brakes hiding behind those bespoke 19-inch alloy wheels. As for the interior, don’t expect too many creature comforts, but you do get two leather sports seats complete with racing harnesses, as well as carbonfibre trim to complete the minimalist sporty look and feel.
