Far Cry 4 campaign length is debatable

By Daniel Chubb - Oct 15, 2014

One of the most important things you will want to know about a new game is how long it will last, although this is normally for single player focused games, as others can clock up hundreds of hours if you mostly play in multiplayer. The Far Cry 4 campaign length is said to last around 35 hours, although this fact is being debated among fans.

Alex Hutchinson, Far Cry 4’s creative director, received a number of messages on Twitter in regard to the games campaign length. Within the last few days he replied to one tweet that said, “How long is the Campaign in Far Cry 4?”. The answer wasn’t entirely clear, although mentioned “probably 35 hours on average”.

The reason some gamers are debating this time is due to different difficulty settings, if it’s too long, and how 35 hours compares to previous games.

There’s no doubt the main story can be completed in a quicker time, although the quoted Far Cry 4 campaign length included all side quests and would most likely be for normal difficulty.

After seeing the mentioned 35-hour campaign length, one Product Reviews reader said this is “too long for the Far Cry 4 campaign”. Another felt, “the game would take at least 40 hours on the hardest difficulty”.

Do you think the quoted Far Cry 4 campaign length is a good amount of time, or do you feel it’s too long or short? The game should arrive in 1080p on Xbox One and PS4. We also expect the release date to be the same in UK and USA, which is currently set for November 18, 2014.

Unfortunately, this is Ubisoft that gimp PS4 versions down to Xbone versions. It is a pathetic 30FPS. This is despite Ubi saying, when defending the appalling 900p30FPS of AC Unity, that 60FPS “is for shooters”. Well, this is a shooter. Aaaaand, surprise, surprise, Ubi have gone with “platform parity”, so both versions are 30FPS. Now, considering Ubi themselves said 60FPS is for4 shooters, who in their right mind would pay full price for an inadequate (according to Ubi’s comments re ACU) game. It is funny that November has gone from 5 Day 1 purchases for me to only one. That will be Dragon Age Inquisition. I love the Far Cry games and have the collectors edition for 2 and 3. However, I asm not paying next-gen prices for last gen’s games. Sorry, Ubi. I hope the deal from MS was good, because you are burning PS4 customers like marijuan crops on the Rook Islands. I will pick both this and ACU up when they hithalf price or lower. I am not saying these games are worthless, just worth less.

I’ve put 80+ hours into this game on the xb1 and fortunately for me, none of said time included dissapointment to any degree. The map is massive and the game plays like a dream. PS4 fans are at a disadvantage? Play the game, then you can provide a proper criticism. Until then, get off the nuts of your console and stop whining.

I have the game for PS4 and I was MORE than appalled at how small the map was and how short and limited the story was! I mean common!! Far Cry3 was amazing!! The story had tons of in’s and out’s and the map continued to expand along with the story. THIS is what I waited for?? This map is a like 1/5 the size of the last game!! There was no real build up to the story line and the characters had no substinance or real texture. Ur just kinda thrown into the fight with no real reasoning or character development. I expected more, much much MORE.

I got my money’s worth and felt satisfied at 97% completion after 80 hours. To each their own I suppose.
