HTC Nexus 9 tablet release date one step closer

By Alan Ng - Oct 6, 2014

Apple may now be planning to unleash the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 at an event on October 21 as we told you about here, but now we could finally be seeing some movement with regards to the elusive and still unreleased HTC Nexus 9 from Google.

The Nexus 9 tablet is Google’s worst kept secret and now it looks like it is firmly a secret no more, after the tablet appeared on the FCC website. Google has obviously remained completely silent on the possibility of a successor to the wonderful Nexus 7 and now we can see some hard evidence of this thanks to the FCC.

Located on the website here in the Test Report section, you can see that the listing identifies the device as an ‘HTC tablet’ half way down the page. As far as we’re aware, there is no other HTC tablet in production this year so all evidence points towards this being the HTC Nexus 9 tablet for Google.

With the FCC listing now completed, it paves the way for Google to finally unveil the tablet publicly and it could be ideal with Apple set to release new iPads as widely speculated.

Could we see the Nexus 9 rumored to include a 64-bit Tegra K1 processor and 3GB of RAM, go directly head-to-head with Apple’s iPad Air 2, which should come with the new Apple A8 chip and a Touch ID finger print sensor?

Something tells us that it’s going to be a very interesting few weeks for sure. Let us know if given the choice, whether you would buy a new 9-inch Nexus tablet from HTC, or Apple’s upgraded iPad Air 2.
