The 2nd generation Kindle Paperwhite was released on September 30th 2013 in the US, although international markets never got their hands on the new version until the middle of 2014. This means that rumors of a new Kindle for 2014 is looking very likely, seeing as though news has just leaked in regard to the Paperwhite successor, which is named Voyage.
Amazon has released a new version of its Kindle each year around the same period, and so we have no reason to believe this year will be any different. The rumored Kindle Voyage is said to come with a 6-inch high-res display and according to the source, its release date will be November 4th, just over a month later than 2013.
You can see the so-called Kindle Voyage in the image above, which is thanks to allesebook, which was taken from its user manual. We presume that it will be the successor to the Paperwhite, but there is a possibility that it will be sold as a high-end e-reader option.
According to The Verge, they have the Kindle Voyage priced at €180 for the 3G version and €249 for the 3G and Wi-Fi model. This works out far more than the current Paperwhite equivalents, and so the Voyage might not be its successor after all and could just be a better option for those who are looking for a more premium e-reader.
The best e-Reader certainly keeps getting better, and makes us wonder why there is no real competition? You have to hand it to Amazon, they have certainly cornered the market in a far better way than Apple did in the smartphone market because the iPhone now has a lot of competition, whereas the Kindle pretty much has none – well none worth mentioning.
