Apple’s iOS 8 will release to public users within 24 hours, and millions are keenly waiting to get this update on their iPads, iPhones and iPod touch. Apple’s new mobile operating system has been tagged as the biggest upgrade to date, so if you want to be one of the first using this software you should get prepared. The iOS 8 download release time can be predicted now the countdown is so close.
Over the weeks we’ve kept our readers educated about iOS 8, and detailed many of the new features along with the fact some people might take a while to adjust to certain changes. However, the good news is this year the user interface isn’t changing as much and the feeling of having a revamped iPad or iPhone comes from key additions.
Apple has already announced that the new operating system will receive a general release tomorrow, but they kept the time under-wraps like they do each year. Today, we wanted to offer a little clarity during the countdown to the time iOS 8 should be released, which will likely be 1pm EST, 10am PDT and 6PM UK.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will both release this Friday and these devices include iOS 8 built-in, although if you are going to update a device you currently own, then make sure it’s compatible with iOS 8 first. You can read further details about the supported devices in the iOS 8 compatibility chart below.
Now it’s almost time to get installing iOS 8, one thing you need to remember is that millions of people own compatible devices around the world and this means a lot of people trying to get the update to iOS 8 right after it’s live to public.
Making the choice to download over-the-air is great and others might opt to connect directly to a computer to take network problems out of the equation. Either way, there’s going to be millions hitting the update button and this may cause Apple server issues thanks to high demand, so some people might wait until another day thanks to glitches with trying to update in the past.
Before starting the update, make sure you back up your iOS 7 device on your Mac or Windows computer. It’s also a good idea to check the version of iTunes installed and make sure you update all applications as well, which makes sure the process goes a little smoother.
This makes sure you are totally prepared for the iOS 8 download, but be clear about wanting to update before starting as there’s likely no going back. Trying to downgrade can be a right pain, although we can cover that in another article. These review videos give you an idea of what iOS 8 offers in the way of features that haven’t changed much in the Gold Master version.
Now you can focus on the countdown to Apple’s iOS 8 download going live, so if you are eager to update make sure you are focused on 1pm New York and 6pm London time. This is still a prediction, but a very good one at that.
