The Apple Store has gone down for some as expected today, and isn’t working or not loading correctly thanks to what seems to be high iPhone 6 pre-order demand.
This happens almost every September when a new iPhone arrives and we expected as much in 2014. In fact, it seems like the demand for Apple iPhones is increasing every year and even more so this year thanks to the 2-year major design change along with a phablet edition finally releasing.
Has the Apple Store gone down right now for you, or not working correctly during your effort to pre-order the iPhone 6? If this is happening to you, then our suggestion is to keep trying and you will likely get through in time. You can always try to come back later, but at that point you can almost guarantee shipping times will slip a few weeks as they do every year within minutes.
In a nutshell, servers can only handle so many connections and this even includes servers owned by the likes of Apple. There will always be a limit on how many people can connect at the same time, and you might just be one of the unlucky people not getting a connection to the Apple Store
If the demand is too great then it can bring down the Apple Store completely with a total outage for a certain amount of time. Share a comment below if you managed to order and if so, did you notice any slowdown? In some cases, if the website isn’t responding for a long period of time you may get the “your session has expired” error message.
When we reported this article the downtime was taking place on the UK Apple Store, although if you have seen the US website go down as well then please leave a comment.
Update: The downtime some people experienced was due to everyone refreshing Apple’s website waiting for the iPhone 6 pre-order to go live, which created issues for some people. The website seems to be working fine and it looks like US and UK pre-orders will start at the same time now, which will be 8:01am GMT and 12:01am PST.
If you still do hit problems when orders go live, leave a comment below.
