Most of you will know that Final Fantasy Type 0 is now on course for a surprise release on PS4 and Xbox One. What you may not know is that there could be a further surprise in store with the possibility of a Final Fantasy Type-0 PC release as well.
It goes without saying that this would be an amazing outcome if it was true. We can bring you some very positive news on this thanks to Final Fantasy director Hajime Tabata who has given a recent interview with GameSpot.
When speaking about the development for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on PS4 and Xbox One, he had this very interesting statement to make which should make PC players take note:
“First and foremost, with the Vita version, we wanted to quickly release the PS4 and Xbox One HD version overseas, so we really prioritized optimizing it for those platforms. In terms of the PC version, it’s still up for discussion. It is a possibility, but it’s up for discussion. And it’s running it on the PC right now, so…”
It’s such a teaser for various reasons. The fact that Square-Enix are willing to say that it’s already running on PC tells you that if they really wanted to bring it out on PC, they can technically.
Obviously there are other issues in the way, such as whether there is enough demand for a PC version and if there is – how many would actually buy the game or try to download it via other methods?
The pros and cons of this argument make a console release much more logical for the time being for Square-Enix, but it’s great to hear that the opportunity is there for the future.
