Livejournal outage is unexpected

- Sep 2, 2014

Livejournal has gone down today and the outage is apparently, “unplanned”. According to the official message left on Livejournal.com, they will try to reconnect users with their online service in the next 30 seconds, although it has been down coming up to 20 minutes at the time of writing.

While Livejournal is not working they provide a couple of messages about the outage in different languages. One of these is in English, which explains they are “experiencing technical difficulties” and are currently working to fix the problems.

The message doesn’t elaborate on exactly what’s wrong today, but users are hoping the servers will bring the Livejournal.com website back up shortly. They also have a status page that will keep users updated on the current outage, and this can be found at status.livejournal.com.

How long have you seen Livejournal down today? We’d love to hear from Product Reviews readers in regard to the outage, what country you are in, and how long the website has been offline for you?

Update: some people have informed us they can access the status page, which details “Site Access Issues. The message was updated on September 2 at 2pm GMT, so this means the services could have been down for over an hour according to that update.

Service has now returned without any answers to why the website went down for over an hour. We also heard that the iPhone app went down, so the issues were not just related to the website only. You should be able to access their apps now without any crashing.
