We are a week away from the Apple September event expected to reveal an iPhone 6 and today we’ve been contacted by a few of our readers asking about the iOS 8 beta 6, or Gold Master release time. The reality is this won’t be happening today, unless Apple really need developers to look at a last minute bug and this could in-turn delay the GM download.
The normal time Apple releases iOS 8 betas to developers is 6PM UK, or 10am PST. We’ll know for sure once this time passes that no iOS 8 beta 6 or GM is releasing today, although we already highly doubt it considering the beta 6 was for carriers eyes only.
We touched on the iOS 8 GM release date last week, which received confirmation through Apple’s press invitation being sent out. Like last year, we expect the Gold Master to release right after Apple’s September 9th keynote.
In regards to iOS 7.1.3 for public users, it’s clear now that this won’t be arriving either considering we are so close to the iOS 8 public release, which is expected around Wednesday 17th of September. This prediction is following Apple’s pattern of releasing the next major upgrade the week following their event, and before the iPhone 6 release date.
Are you happy we are now close to the public release, or are you unhappy that Apple didn’t offer beta 6 to developers and another iOS 7 update? There’s been a number of forum threads discussing battery life problems with beta 5, and these developers wanted to see another preview build. It is worth noting our in-house developer has had no battery drain on either an iPhone 5, or iPad mini running iOS 8 beta 5.
