As we patiently wait for the highly anticipated Clash of Clans August 2014 update from Supercell, there has been some very interesting developments from rival game The Simpsons Tapped out. An update has been released for the game which actually transforms the game into another Clash of Clans clone.
It appears that EA are not hiding away from this fact either. In a teaser trailer released recently, EA even goes as far to say : “This Fall, the Simpsons takes on their greatest nemesis ever…the game that keeps beating them in the App Store.”
Without actually namedropping Clash of Clans, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that EA are now taking the approach of ‘if you can’t beat em, join em’. It comes just days after we told you about another Clash of Clans clone – Star Wars Commander from Disney owned Playdom.
The question is though, are you happy to head back into Tapped Out and continue playing the game in its new format? You’ll now be tasked with things such as defending your Springfield army led by Homer against rival neighbourhood armies.
We’re a little surprised on how blatant a move this is by EA, but then again it’s probably understandable given how massive Clash of Clans is at the moment and the amount of money it generates on a daily basis – who wouldn’t want a slice of that delicious pie?
If you are both a Tapped Out and a Clash of Clans player, let us know what you think about this move by EA. Some are calling it ‘shameless’, but do you think it’s a clever step in closing the gap between the two games?
Look out for the update very soon. Feel free to build your army early by leaving your game details below.
