Ford recalls Focus ST, Escape, Transit and Lincoln MKC

By Updated on

If you are an owner of a GM or Ford vehicle, then there is a good chance that you will be or know someone affected by the recent spate of recalls, and there seems to be no end in sight. The reason for bringing this up once again is because Ford has had to issue another round of recalls, this time for the Focus ST, Escape, Transit and Lincoln MKC.

Latest Ford recall for 2014 – While 163,000 vehicles do not seem like many in the grand scheme of things, it is once you add it to the increasing tally, which will make 2014 a year to remember for auto recalls.

First on the list to be recalled is the 2013 and 2014 Ford Focus ST and Ford Escape, but only the models with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engines. The reason for the recall is due to a faulty wiring harness, which in some cases can cause a disruption in the signal it sends to the powertrain control module.

The problems do not stop there though, as this has a knock-on effect with other systems, such as the check engine light appearing, as well as the possibility that the engine could lose power or even stall, which could be very dangerous if the engine stalls while driving.

As for the Ford Transit cargo recall, this is because the windowless sliding doors could open during a side-impact due to faulty sealing washers. These are to be replaced free of charge.

The reason behind the Lincoln MKC crossovers recalls is because bubbles have been found in windshields, which is down to the manufacturing process. This goes against federal regulations and so Ford has had to recall 1,300 of these models.
