Apple will release iOS 8 beta 6 on Monday, and this will mark the final beta before a Gold Master releases in September at the Apple iPhone event. Today, we wanted to remind Product Reviews readers when the expected release date will be for Apple developers and of course, when the public can expect to get hands-on with the new iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch operating system.
Date and time for iOS 8 beta 6 – The majority of developers will be expecting iOS 8 beta 6 on Monday, August 18. The release time will no doubt follow previous downloads, which means 6PM UK and 1PM Eastern Time, and we have every reason to believe this will be the final beta like with iOS 7.
In 2013, the Gold Master released right after Apple’s iPhone event and you can expect the same in 2014 for iOS 8 GM. The September Apple event hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, although the latest rumors point to September 9 as the event date. If this does happen, then we should see Apple invitations arrive around September 2nd and this will point to the Gold Master release date as well.
The only time we’ve seen another beta release is due to a major bug. Our in-house developer explains the current beta 5 build is very solid and the next beta should only improve on what we have already, so we have every reason to expect iOS 8 beta 6 to be the final build before GM like last year.
Are you looking forward to installing iOS 8 when the public version arrives in September? We can also expect the public release to land within a couple of weeks after GM, and certainly before the so-called iPhone 6 releases next month. Apple learned not to release the new iPhone and latest major iOS update on the same day in the past, thanks to servers crashing and other problems with millions of current users and new iPhone owners pushing resources too far.
