BBM for Windows Phone download live today

By Updated on

This month saw the beta release of BBM for Windows Phone, although this was only a limited beta to the first number of people who registered. You have to thank those people who signed up because they have made it possible for BlackBerry to make the app more widely available.

Even though BBM for Windows Phone is still beta, it is now a public one and its download went live today. The messaging app fully supports Windows Phone 8, and while we see this as a good step for users, we can’t help think it is a little late.

The thing is, when BBM was first launched for Android and iOS there was a huge amount of hype surrounding it, so much so that it caused a few issues and so had to be taken down for a while. However, the dust has now settled and the desire to have BBM on anything other than a BlackBerry device is not what it was.

Several people we knew downloaded BBM to their iPhones and within days had already deleted the app, as they found using iMessage and things like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger far better.

With this in mind, we wonder how long it will be before Windows Phone uses grow tired of BBM beta and start deleting it before it comes out of beta and its full public version is released?

The version that was released today has far more to offer than the primitive version a few weeks back, and so comes with almost all the features as you get from the Android and iOS versions. This slow release should stop a repeat of the problems those other platforms experienced at the start, but again, not sure if BBM is really that popular anymore on platforms other than BlackBerry?
