The PlayStation Plus August 2014 update arrived early within rumors and this free games list has been discredited just as quick thanks to a game studio behind one of the titles. We’d normally expect the latest free games to arrive in Europe and the UK on the first Wednesday of each month, but there’s been some debate around the chances of this being brought forward after 6 days into the month is too much for some people.
We’ve touched on this possibility yesterday, for an earlier release date with PS Plus free games coming before August 2014 and with an update hoped to arrive on Wednesday this week.
It’s highly unlikely to happen now and we’d expect Sony to stick to the traditional date no matter how far it goes into a new month. This hasn’t stopped Product Reviews readers wondering why, “they hold off giving announcements until the last moment”.
Some PS Plus subscribers reached out to the game studios on the recent leaked list for the next update, which included The Swapper and Octodad. If one game from a list is discredited, then it makes everything else within that rumor highly unlikely as well and this is exactly what happened following our article highlighting this claim earlier today.
The Swapper is NOT on PlayStation Plus this month, nor do we have any plans to bring it to Plus. That leaked list is absolutely incorrect.

We might be really close to getting the free games revealed and see the traditional date confirmed, but the tweet above clearly shows us that Curve Digital’s The Swapper won’t be included and they also confirm the leak is “absolutely incorrect”.
Do you think there’s any truth to the recent PS Plus August 2014 update claims? Or should any discrediting like with the news above mean the complete list of games is fake?
