While everyone gets stuck into Destiny at the moment, one game that has gone under the radar in recent months is Star Wars Battlefront 3, the highly anticipated game currently in development from EA and DICE.
We have hardly seen anything from the game at all, with not even a 2015 release certain at this point. We are scheduled to see the game in Spring 2015 according to DICE, but we do have a more accurate update of some sorts to bring you on when we could be seeing the game on the shelves.
As most of you are aware, there is a new Star Wars movie on the way, that being Star Wars Episode VII directed by JJ Abrams. DICE said at the time when they first unveiled Battlefront that it wouldn’t be a direct tie-in with the movie.
Now though, we have some new comments from DICE EVP of EA Studios Patrick Soderlund, who has said that his team would be welcome to the option of a Star Wars Battlefront release date to happen within the same release window as the new movie.
He added in the latest investor’s call, as noted by Seeking Alpha:
“What we’re building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made, and that’s just because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars. Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn’t say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn’t say that we’re directly tied to it.”
The information that you need to know is that the movie is due out December 18 2015, so if there is some real substance to the ideas mentioned above, then a Star Wars Battlefront release may happen in December 2015.
Given the next official reveal is scheduled for Spring 2015, a December 2015 release wouldn’t be such a farfetched idea. Are you desperate to find out more information on the next game in the Star Wars universe? Give us your thoughts on this.
