Nexus 7 3rd generation announcement should be today

By Peter Chubb - Jul 24, 2014

It is still up in the air as to whether there will be a Nexus 7 3rd generation model considering most rumors seem to suggest it will be a no show this year, and instead set aside for the Nexus 8. However, things seemed to have changed the other day, as what we thought was called the Nexus 8 is in fact an 8.9-inch tablet, and so could come with the number 9 instead.

If we are to go by what happened last year, then if there was to be a Nexus 7 2014 model, then it should be announced today, as last year’s model was unveiled on July 24th and released just two days later.

We need to emphasize the word could be released today, as we just cannot see this happening considering the fact that we have yet to hear anything from Google, as they would have invited a few people along to its big unveil.

However, there is still a chance that we could see a Nexus 7 3 this year, especially as HTC is expected to work on new models from the range, and we have already learned that HTC is working on the T7, which is an overgrown One M8 and could become the Nexus 7 successor.

We really do not have a clue as to what Google has planned, but it does seem strange how HTC is expected to take over from ASUS and make a larger Nexus tablet or tablets, while also working on a 7-inch version of the same tablet as well.

Do you think we will see a new Nexus 7 tablet this year?
