Mazda have been very busy of late what with the Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition and also the upcoming 2015 MX-5 as well, you would not think they had enough time to work on much else, but that would be a wrong assumption. There is also the all-new Mazda 2, and details have emerged, along with images, although these are based on the demo model.
The 2015 Mazda 2 will be unveiled in Paris in October, and so the carmaker has followed the likes of Smart and revealed details several months early. While information may be limited, at least we get a good idea of the design of the new model, along with some of the main features, such as engines.
However, before you get too excited, it comes as no real shock to us that the Mazda 2 2015 price has ben concealed from us, no doubt these details will become available to us during the Paris Motor Show. Having said that, Mazda could make us wait even longer considering the car is not due to be released until early 2015.
What we know – The all-new Mazda 2 will make use of SkyActiv technology and will come with either a 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine or petrol, both of which will offer two different outputs, although those horsepower figures have yet to be reveled.
The new 2 is expected to be lighter than the current model, with a curb weight of around 1000kg, this is thanks to a new chassis and body design. As for its design, it is clear to see that Mazda has taken a lot from the Hazumi concept, which we saw at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
As for it’s interior, you will see from the images here that it will be spacious and plush, although it does look a little bland, but that’s just a personal opinion.
What are your thoughts on the new Mazda 2 so far?
