Tekken 7 release before Tekken X Street Fighter

By Alan Ng - Jul 13, 2014

It seems a long time ago since we were playing Street Fighter X Tekken, a game that was promised alongside the opposite crossover with Tekken X Street Fighter. Now it looks like the game may be in doubt further as we have just had the confirmation of Tekken 7 prematurely.

EVO 2014 is coming up this week and it looks like one of the big announcements has been spoiled by IGN. The website has posted a video early confirming Tekken 7 is on the way – you can see the logo as evidence below taken from the video before it was prompted removed.

Surprisingly, it also looks like Tekken 7 is still on the way to PS3 and Xbox 360. We would have presumed that the next mainstream Tekken 7 game would be next-gen only on PS4 and Xbox One but obviously we will have to wait for Tekken 8 to see that.

We can also tell you that Tekken 7 will be built on the Unreal Engine 4, a decision that producer Katsuhiro Harada says will help produce excellent results in terms of graphics for next-gen platforms.

Where does this leave the status of Tekken X Street Fighter though, a game that was announced in 2010 but has hardly been seen by the public other than a single image of Ryu.

As you can imagine, gamers are fearing the worst already and we can see that there has already been feedback from some who say that this now means that Tekken X Street Fighter could be cancelled.

Remember that Tekken 7 may not release until 2015, so where would that leave Tekken X Street Fighter? Surely it is too long to wait for the game now. Perhaps one way of doing it is to release Tekken 7 but with guest characters from Street Fighter to make up for any possible cancellation.

What is your reaction to Tekken 7 and your thoughts on the status of Tekken X Street Fighter? Official announcement coming soon.

“We can also tell you that Tekken 7 will be built on the Unreal Engine 4, a decision that producer Katsuhiro Harada says will help produce excellent results in terms of graphics for next-gen platforms.” “Surprisingly, it also looks like Tekken 7 is still on the way to PS3 and Xbox 360.” “but obviously we will have to wait for Tekken 8 to see that.”
you just COMPLETELY contradicted yourself my dear author. Furthermore, do you know anything regarding Unreal Engine 4? It doesn’t support the “previous” gen consoles let me tell you that very primarily. Do some research before writing such a thing and stop giving people false information pal. Tekken 7 will be released probably early 2016 as games tend to get released a year or two later than the actual arcade releases, which means that the game (if you had some sense before writing this article) will be definitely supported by the “current” gen. As I said before, do some research regarding what you write so you can at least give the people some valuable information and not false hope. “but obviously we will have to wait for Tekken 8 to see that.”? Yeah, definitely, when it comes out in 2020 jackass, after 7 years of ps4 release. Really logical thinking on that one pal.

Sorry if I sounded very defense or at least, obnoxious Alan. It’s just a personal thing. Can’t really stand authors who give out false information, or doesn’t even bother to do some research and just make whatever statements that they think of and post it so that other people believe, and spread more false statements. It’s like a virus.

  • I honestly could care less about Tekken 7, I’d rather they focus on TekkenxSF more than anything else tbh. I’ve been more than patient to hear a release date let alone one measly trailer to know its at least progressing. My gawd is it that hard to implement SF characters into the tekken game. Didn’t seem too difficult for Tekken characters in a SF game… or does this have something to do with Capcom being @$$holes about their characters-_- whatever the case I don’t care, I just want to see some kind of evidence its still being developed even if it takes 2 more years to come out show me something gawd damn it >_<

I definitely wanted Tekken x SF, i dont want to see the final Tekken game it’s such a good fighter but i still think this year Tekken x SF will show, i think July 25th we’ll get it since that leak of Tekken 7 happend, Harada is crafty and doesnt want to spoil any surprise.

According to Katsuhiro Harada during the announcement, Tekken 7 wasn’t even supposed to be announced, but it was because of the leak. I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be Tekken x Street Fighter. Hopefully that will be announced at the San Diego Comic Con. But with this huge news of Tekken 7’s existence, people are going to want more info on it. So Tekken x Street Fighter might have to wait a bit longer it seems.
